The Breath of Peace
by Ann McGill
- Reduces Stress and Tension
- Helps you Relax and Be at Ease
- Very Useful when Feeling Upset
- Can Help you Get to Sleep
Did you know that a permanent state of inner peace is truly possible?
That’s because to be calm and at ease is our natural state.
World peace can’t happen until you and I and enough others are willing
to claim our inherent right to experience inner peace as normal and natural.
Inner peace takes practice. Learning how to relax deeply comes first.
How would your life work better if you felt calmer, less harried and anxious? Here’s a good do-it-anywhere-anytime suggestion to help you quiet the mind so you can experience more serenity and bliss.
The only way to know just how helpful it might be is to try it.
But first, take a moment to notice how you are feeling right now.
You’ll then be much more likely to notice whatever changes occur.
Only by acknowledging positive benefits are we likely to do it again,
and again.
“The Breath of Peace”
- Take a deep breath. Hold the inhale a few seconds.
Then ...
- Relax and release and let all the air whoosh out.
Then ...
- Push the last remaining bit of air out by tightening your abdomen.
Hold this state of emptiness for a few moments.
Then ...
- Relax, stop pushing, let go.
Allow fresh air to whoosh back in without doing anything
to help it happen. Let it be effortless
How do you feel now, compared to before doing “The Breath of Peace”?
The shifts may be subtle. How evident depends upon your level of awareness and how much you needed to relax in the first place.
How does your body feel? What’s different about your thinking?
Has their been a shift in mood?
Consider what life would be like if “The Breath of Peace” became a habit
for everyone, every day, any time anyone felt upset or faced a difficult situation. What would our lives be like if people took a few big, deep breaths before reprimanding their children, leading a contentious meeting, speaking a complaint or telling someone why they are frustrated or angry?
How might this simple action positively affect your life?
